Board of Directors
Andy Clark - president
Andy is the co-owner of Wixom Farm as well as the owner/operator of A Mouse in the House Kennel. Wixom Farm in it’s current iteration started about 10 years ago with the intention of raising animals ethically and giving them the best life possible. We made the choice to raise Scottish Highland Cows for both their beauty and the quality of the meat they produce. We also breed and raise Tamworth pigs on the farm. Wixon Farm contains Sugar Maple Groves that we utilize along with our Sugar Shack to produce small batch maple syrup. Although farming is a difficult task I have found moments of peace and a sense of belonging that I have searched for my whole life. We have been bringing our products to the Trumansburg Farmers Market many years now and it is an honor to serve on the market board to help grow and support the Trumansburg Farmers Market.
Debbie biltonen - Vice president/Treasurer
For over 30 years, Debbie has devoted her personal and professional life to community service through not-for-profit administration, advocacy, program coordination and facilitation. Over the years, Debbie has volunteered at State Parks and Preserves, stewarded, and lived in a National Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary in Maine, as well as managed AmeriCorps programs in nine counties throughout the Hudson Valley and Catskills Mountains. Her first intensive work with farmers came when she became Executive Director of the Rondout Valley Growers Association (RVGA) in the Hudson Valley. She took this fledgling organization and raised it to regional attention, gained grants, increased memberships, and overall illuminated the rich agricultural diversity of one of New York’s hidden agronomic gems. Her passion for strengthening the community by supporting the local economy and the region's farms brought her to Trumansburg Farmers’ Market first as a customer then as a vendor of medicinal herbs and products for Know Your Roots, which she co-owns with her husband, and then as a Board member. She believes a strong Farmers’ Market is paramount to thriving communities everywhere.
caroline hecht - secretary
Caroline Hecht joined the Trumansburg Farmers' Market Board in Fall 2020. She brings an attendee's perspective, having been at nearly every Market for the last nine years. She was also at the Market quite a bit in its earliest years, as all three of her kids worked at the Market Consignment Stand that provided first job experiences for 9th graders. Needless to say, she loves the Market, and is now ready to help shape its future. Before retiring she worked as a computer programmer at Cornell for over 30 years. Many people know her as "Avi's mom".
margaret shepard
Margaret Shepard joined the T’burg Farmers’ Market as a vendor (Sage Hen Farm, Lodi) and board member in 2007 and has persevered ever since, with joy in this community. Her earlier professions as a conservation biologist (endangered New Zealand birds) and technical editor for the Ecological Society of America publications inform her environmentally responsible farming: diversity of wild and cultivated landscapes over mass production. Her deep commitment to volunteering is reflected in decades of work (organizing events, publicity, fund-raising, grant writing) on the boards of the Cornell Folk Song Society and Hands Four Dancers of Ithaca, as well as Danby Community Council, Friends of the Library, Ithaca City School District Budget Steering Committee, and school groups. Farmers’ markets are crucial in supporting small businesses and promoting healthy, affordable food, education, and a welcoming space for all. Margaret’s roles on the TFM board have included vendor outreach and increasing accessibility via food assistance programs, transportation, and publicity. Since 2011, she has booked the weekly musicians for the Market and sometimes just can’t resist dancing!
Elisha Osherowitz (Kemmerer)
Local Tburger Elisha has been a Farmer's Market customer since 2011. She and her husband started visiting the Market every year on their annual family vacation camping at Taughannock Falls State Park. They quickly fell in love with the region and relocated their family here in 2017. Professionally, Elisha is a Sales Support Specialist for a K-12 Curriculum company supporting students & educators across the United States. When not working she loves all things gardening, spending time on the lakes or exploring the many wonders in nature that this area offers. Always a major force in Elisha and her family's life (and part the decision to move here) is knowing who/where/how their food is being grown and the supporting local farmers. For this reason, Elisha is delighted to be on the Farmers Market board and to have the opportunity to further support this wonderful community.
lael eisman
Lael Eisman grew up on Seneca lake and started Six Circles Farm in Caywood the same year the Trumansburg farmers market began. Along with his brother, he ran an internship program for youth there for the last 20 years. Now a father of 2 amazing girls, he believes the spirit of community and connection is vital to our health and healing. Lael also works as a somatic therapist focusing on soul retrieval and integration. When he isn’t growing vegetables or cooking them, he enjoys traveling and spending time with farmers and musicians in Africa and Latin America, sailing, snowboarding, painting, and telling dad jokes.
Melanie Cole
New to the board this year is T-burg resident Melanie Cole. She discovered the TFM in 2023 upon moving back "home". The summer market is the perfect mid-week break to meet friends, have dinner, buy local goodies and enjoy the festive music. As a remote worker, she describes it as the perfect place to refuel with friends and family right in the heart of our Village. Seeing the need for additional volunteers, she views her participation as a way to assist the farm-to-table marketing to those who haven't yet found the TFM gem! She brings her 20+ years experience in Finger Lakes tourism and a consumer's perspective to the board discussions, and looks forward to learning more about the vendors and musicians who participate year over year.
ALYSSA COTRONE
Alyssa is new to Trumansburg, moving here just 2 years ago. After spending over a decade in the city of Rochester, her and her husband decided to relocate to somewhere with a little more space much like where they both grew up in the Catskills. They have settled in to life in T-burg, and you can find them weekly at the Market with their dog Kaz.
Alyssa tends to spend her free time either knitting in front of the fire in winter, or in her gardens with her chickens in the warmer months. Having grown up on a working farm it was a logical step to follow in her mother’s footsteps to be involved with her local market and she is excited to help grow the Trumansburg Farmers’ Market going forward!
natalie baris - market manager
Natalie has been manager of the Farm Store at Geneva-based Red Jacket Orchards since the spring of 2012. She works closely with all aspects of the company, as well as dozens of Finger Lakes based producers, artisans and farmers. A large part of her role at the Farm Store is curating new and exciting goods from the Finger Lakes. Her professional endeavors always included food in one way or another. Whether she is behind the line donning a chef coat, or coordinating open-air farmers’ markets, food and markets are her passion. Most recently Natalie became proprietor of the first farmers’ market set inside a New York State park, at Sampson State Park. Natalie sits on the Board of Directors of the New York Cider Association. She also sits on the marketing committee for the Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance, the committee for Community Outreach for Friends of the Keuka Outlet, Ontario County Farm Bureau and many other boards.
